assessments
Informal Assessments
There are many opportunities for informal assessment such as:
- assessing how much work they are getting done during the BayBears game
- quizzes and worksheets for grades
- bell ringers at the beginning of class to go over the lesson from the previous day
- exit slips at the end of class to check students' comprehension and skills
Formal Assessment
At the conclusion of the Probability and Statistics portion of my class, students will write a paper and present the information that contains the following, but is not limited to:
- where they experienced probability in the real world before the lesson
- how they experienced probability at the BayBears game
- explanation of the probability of a casino game of the student’s choice and why they believe many people still gamble regardless of the odds
- why probability is important in the world
- where the students will use probability in their future lives
The students will also turn in a take home test that was given the day before along with their presentations for a total grade.
